DISCUSSION moderator. Speaker. Panel member.

Engaging audiences on sustainability topics: with a mix of positive energy and critical insights.

Read on to learn more on my previous experience with helping to make events meaningful and memorable.

EXAMPLES

Having engaged with a wide range of audiences at in-company and public events as a (keynote) speaker, moderator and panel member, some examples include:

  • Delivering a keynote speech on innovations in climate action and renewable energy at COP22, the UN Climate Summit in Marrakesh, Morocco.

  • Speaking at DSM’s Supplier Partnership Day, engaging 200 executive-level attendees of the company’s top suppliers.

  • Speaker and panel member at the official goodbye event of the Chairman of the Managing Board of EY in The Netherlands, Pieter Jongstra, who had served the firm from 1982-2014.

  • Engaging a large community of professionals of all levels who work with the Dutch Public Broadcaster (NPO), at their inaugural sustainability conference.

  • Moderating a panel with top sustainability executives at the North America Summit of the World Economic Forum Global Shapers in Ottawa, Canada.

TOPICS

Examples of subjects I cover include: corporate sustainability, the role of business in driving environmental action, company purpose, global trends and developments in tackling climate disruption, as well as environmental innovations and campaigns (to engage citizens/consumers on one hand, and politicians/business leaders on the other).

AUDIENCE IS #1

I care deeply about my audience and want everyone in it to leave the event inspired, with a high sense of meaning and ideally, a few practical actions in their notebook. For this reason, I accept speaking and moderating invitations on a limited basis. This is because I engage only, when I can actually allocate the time to properly prepare and truly tailor my content to your audience.

REQUESTS

Please note that from November 2020 onwards, I am assuming a new in-house role as Director Health & Sustainability (Europe & Indonesia) at Ahold Delhaize. Any requests related to this role or the company will be reviewed and prioritized in this context, together with colleagues.

For international requests, kindly note that I aim to reduce my air travel. Although this may impact the possibilities and ways of working together, I am of course open to alternative travel and virtual ways of collaboration.

Paulette was a mainstage speaker at DSM’s Supplier Partnership Day in 2018. Her keynote about the global climate crisis was compelling and inspired the audience to be part of the solution. 200 executive-level attendees from DSM’s top global suppliers attended. The high visibility event also included former UN Climate Chief Christiana Figueres as a speaker, alongside several DSM top executives and business group leaders.
— Martha Buffington - Chief Procurement Officer, Royal DSM
I would highly recommend Paulette for any opportunities in public speaking or moderation. Looking back at Shape North America 2017 – a summit for 200 young leaders active in the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Community — it was a pleasure to have Paulette moderate a key panel on the role of business in advancing sustainable development. She pressed our speakers – executives at leading companies – to be clear and cogent in explaining the contribution of the private sector on issues such as climate change and sustainability throughout the supply chain. She was able to cut through the morass of talking points on Corporate Social Responsibility to have a more pragmatic discussion. Paulette was also very skilled at engaging with our audience, Global Shapers from more than a dozen countries, to participate actively and share their perspectives. Given her background in the private sector, she was uniquely able to frame the issues and manage the discussion.
— Adam Moscoe – Vice Chair SHAPE North America Summit 2017
